# Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) Checklist 2026

Follow this checklist to make informed decisions during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 - December 7, 2026). Don't leave money on the table or miss critical deadlines.

Review Current Coverage

-   Review your current Medicare plan (Medicare Advantage, Medigap, or Original Medicare + Part D) 
-   Check if your doctors and specialists are still in-network for 2026 
-   Review your prescription drug list and verify coverage for 2026 
-   Evaluate your out-of-pocket costs from the current year 
-   Check if your plan is being discontinued or significantly changed

Assess Your Needs

-   List any new health conditions or medications 
-   Consider any upcoming procedures or treatments 
-   Review your preferred pharmacies and confirm they're in-network 
-   Evaluate your budget for premiums, deductibles, and copays 
-   Think about how often you visit doctors and use healthcare services

Compare Plans

-   Use Medicare.gov Plan Finder or consult with an advisor 
-   Compare premiums, deductibles, and maximum out-of-pocket costs 
-   Check prescription drug coverage and costs at each tier 
-   Review provider networks to ensure your doctors are covered 
-   Compare extra benefits (dental, vision, hearing, fitness, OTC) 
-   Look at plan star ratings for quality and customer satisfaction

-   Medicare card (red, white, and blue) 
-   Current insurance cards and policy information 
-   List of current medications with dosages 
-   List of doctors, specialists, and hospitals you use 
-   Income documents (for IRMAA or Extra Help qualification)

-   October 15, 2026: Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) begins 
-   December 7, 2026: AEP ends - last day to make changes 
-   January 1, 2027: New coverage takes effect 
-   Set reminders to review plan options before December 7
